August 30, 2018 | Lioba Ruedell - Mainz, Rheinland-Pfalz -- Germany

It was almost half a century ago when I met Edith and her family - including their then two cats - at Bowdoin College and in Brunswick. At the time, Edith taught German at Bowdoin and she not only helped me with all the ins and outs of college life, but also opened doors to the American way of life that was then to shape my identity and my life to this day. That first encounter was the beginning of a life-long friendship with a dialogue that may have been sparse at times but that never ceased. I will keep up our conversations, Edith. I couldn't live without them. My thoughts are with your dear family whom you have always loved so very deeply. May my thoughts transport strength across the oceans. In loving memory, Lioba

June 22, 2018 | Heather Preston-Weeks - Harpswell, ME -- United States

Edie will be greatly missed at Good Shepherd both at Sunday services, and in my aerobics classes that she attended with enthusiasm and perseverance.

June 21, 2018 | Barry Lohnes - Topsham, Maine -- USA

Edith Rentz served energetically on the Board of Region Ten Technical High School where I was honored to work as Director. Edie's keen intellect, knowledge, and educational vision contributed toward maximizing student learning in all programs. Yes, Edie, it was all about our students. Farewell.

June 20, 2018 | Lorraine Johnstone - Harpswell, Maine -- USA

Edie was such a good friend. I spent a lot of time with her not only at MidCoast Hunger Prevention but also at Wilbur's Chocolate shop. I am so sorry for her loss. She was a great lady and will be missed.

June 17, 2018 | Hannah Royal - Brussels, Belgium -- Belgium

I was student of Mrs. Rentz at FHS in the ‘90s. Though she taught English, it was through her love of Germany and her encouragement that I went on to study abroad through a Daimler Benz Award and again through the Congress-Bundestag program. I went on to study international relations and German in college. Many teachers along the way have impacted my life, but I am particularly thankful for the way Mrs. Rentz encouraged me to adventure beyond my small hometown. My prayers for comfort are with her family as grieve this loss.

June 16, 2018 | Karen Green - Durham, Maine -- USA

Mrs. Rentz was one of my favorite teachers and later a great friend. She had both of my boys and they were blessed for having known her. She is one of the great ones! Thank you for having an impact on my life and for helping to shape my future as well as my sons. Love Karen.

June 15, 2018 | Christy (Bernard) Diaz - Waukegan , IL -- US

What an amazing life. Who knew this teacher, that touched my life for such a brief but very important time, had such an amazing journey. I will always remember her thoughtfulness. She probably had no idea the impact she had on my sixteen year old self but I will never forget

I am truly sorry for your loss and hope that your memories will bring a smile when you need it most.

June 15, 2018 | Michelle Pariseau - Vernon , British Columbia -- Canada

I am so sorry to hear about Mrs. Rentz passing.
She was my English Teacher at FHS in 1988 as well we attended the same church in Brunswick.

She was an amazing teacher. I am so sorry for your loss. My deepest sympathies to Edith's family during this very difficult time.
