Mr. Deans is fondly remembered by me. He was my teacher at Brunswick High School and helped my to thrive in my woodworking. He let me help teach a freshman class instead of being in a study hall. He is my favorite teacher and the only one that I have thought of over the years.

Dear Diane and your family,
Bob Deans was my husbands' as well as my wood shop teacher at Brunswick high School. We both graduated in 1984. We were high school sweethearts and are still happily married. My husband still has the oak roll top desk and wheel barrow with the forged metal wheel that he made with Mr. Deans. He made a china cupboard for his mother as well. I made a large pine box with a lovely finished edge and was the only girl in his wood shop class. His enthusiasm, zest for life and gregarious nature were infectious. Later, I became an art teacher and taught at the high school with Bob for one year as a colleague. I always knew he was a kind man. After he retired the curriculum changed. The philosophy evolved and not for the better in our opinion. We both valued his warmth, sense of humor, and depth of character. He impacted more people than perhaps he ever knew. What a fine man he was. Thank you for the gift of your husband, father and grandfather.
Respectfully,
Chris and Emily

January 6, 2019 | Robert Curtis - BOWDOINHAM, ME -- USA

I will always remember Bob from the days as a student at MCI, as a fellow teacher at Brunswick High School, and sailing the Eggemoggin Reach out of Rockland. I still use furniture built by his high school students. We shared lunchtime where I would be advised of the latest reconstruction of boats and nautical news. On Bob's recommendation I made it to Damariscove Island from Bowdoinham in my "Smokepot" as Bob referred to outboards.

Our condolences to Diane and family.

January 4, 2019 | Jean Skelton Libby - Brunswick, ME -- US

I am deeply saddened about Bob's passing. Though I only saw him a time or two since his retirement, I have a deep fondness for Bob as he was part of my experiences at Brunswick High School from 1975 to 2000 when he retired. He was such a character, full of life and good humor; lots of fun. I have many memories of some very funny antics he pulled.
My deepest sympathy for you Diane and other family members. Jean S. Libby (was Barbour)

Mr Dean. You taught me more than I could ever say in this little space provided. I wish you could see the things I have built all because you gave me the love for building anything out of wood but you taught me the right way of doing it. I will never forget you, Mr. Deans, thank you so much for adding so much to my life. May all that God has to offer in heaven be yours. I will Forever be indebted and forever thankful to you.
