Billie Ann Wilson

Date of Death: January 22, 2022

Date of Birth: April 19, 1940

Biography:

It is with great sorrow that the family of Billie Ann Lobdell Wilson announces her passing. Billie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Surrounded by her family, she took her last breath on January 22nd, 2022, in Brunswick, Maine, at the home of
her eldest daughter Leslie Walter.

Born on April 19th, 1940, in Elizabethtown, New York, to parents Charles Lobdell and Marjorie Howe Lobdell, Billie attended the State University College of Education at Geneseo. There she met Joseph Wilson, and on June 24th, 1961, they were married at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Bath, New York. In 1968, Billie and Joe moved with their two daughters, Leslie and Laurie, to San Diego, California, and while summering in Colorado, welcomed a third daughter, Kimberly.

Billie worked as a teacher at Harbor View Elementary School in Imperial Beach, where she developed an innovative program that incorporated 5th-grade students into her special education classroom. In addition to teaching, she served in the Altar Guild at All Souls’ Episcopal Church, led the local Girl Scouts, and taught backyard swimming lessons with the American Red Cross.

Billie will be remembered lovingly as the matriarch of her family. Famous for her chocolate chip cookies, cinnamon bread, and fudge, her giving spirit was felt by all who knew her. Billie enjoyed playing the piano and traveling to visit family and friends. Her competitive and friendly nature made playing scrabble, card games, and board games with her a joy. Billie loved exploring National Parks, visiting Hawaii, and spending summers in Curecanti National Park. In the words of her husband, “Love was the way she lived; children were her treasures; family and friends her joy.”

Billie is survived by: two of her siblings, Charles Lobdell and Naomi Markle, her husband Joseph Wilson, her daughters Leslie Walter, Laurie Oliver, and Kimberly Day, her son-in-laws George Walter, Bradford Oliver, and Michael Day, and her grandchildren Frank Walter, Joe Walter, Rose
Walter, Becca Day, Rachael Oliver, Sarah Day, Billie Walter, Emily Oliver, Hannah Day, Mark Day, George Walter, Leah Day, Helen Walter, Maureen Walter, and great-grandchild Emerson Walter.

A Celebration of Life for Billie will be held on June 18th, 2022, at 1:00 PM at All Souls’ Episcopal Church at 1475 Catalina Blvd, San Diego, CA, 92107.
In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Altar Guild at All Souls’ Episcopal Church.

May she Rest in Peace and Rise in Glory
