Biography:

Our family is deeply saddened to inform you that Joseph Thomas Whitlow has passed away. As many of you may know, he was diagnosed in May with PCNS Brain Lymphoma. His short battle ended on September 11th. We are relieved that his passing was peaceful and painless at the home he loved surrounded by his family.Joe was born on October 2, 1947 in Passaic, NJ to Albin and Helen (Fehrenbach) Whitlow. He graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1965 and was on the varsity football and track teams. He also attended CW Post college in Long Island, NY.He proudly served in the US Navy and Naval Reserves from 1967-1972. In 1969 he met Linda Diane Turner in Lewiston and they were married on April 25, 1970.Joe retired from Bath Iron Works after 34 years then worked for Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula, MS. After moving back to Maine, Joe worked as a production engineer doing consulting work for CTC then Hepinstall Consulting.He spent many years volunteering as a coach with Falmouth Little League, as a ski instructor with Maine Handicapped Skiing and other community activities. He loved boating, golfing, traveling, chillaxing at camp, entertaining, and driving his Corvette fast with the top down.He was predeceased by his father Albin Whitlow, and his sister Linda (Whitlow) Segal. Joe is survived by his mother Helen Whitlow, his loving wife Linda Whitlow, their children Stacy (Whitlow) O'Reilly, Amy Whitlow, Jeffrey Whitlow and his grandchildren Meagan, Connor, Kaitlyn, Owen, Dylan and Rachel. Joe also leaves behind a son in-law and daughter in-law, nephews, cousins and many friends.Visiting hours will be Saturday September 22, 2018 from 10-11AM at Funeral Alternatives located at 25 Tampa Street, Lewiston, ME 04240. A memorial service at the same location will immediately follow from 11-11:30 AM. In lieu of flowers the family asks that a donation be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society at LLS Donation link. The family would also like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to the Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice Team.
