Date of Birth: April 26, 1940

Biography:

LISBON FALLS - David L. White (Whitey) Passed away September 2, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer. He passed away at home with his family by his side which is where he wanted to be.

David was born the fifth child to Arthur and Lora White in Topsham ME. He spent his childhood growing up in Bowdoinham which is where he attended schools. In 1958 he joined the Navy. He served mainly over seas and worked on a mine sweeping ship. After returning to Maine he worked as a mechanic for Granite Paving, Reed and Reed, HB Fleming, a personal care taker for Harry Cooker and ended his career working for Enterprise Electric. But what he is best know for is spending his retirement fixing small engines out of his garage in Lisbon Falls. Throughout his retirement he loved restoring antique snowmobiles and acquired with his son David a large collection. He was an avid snowmobiler and helped start the Bowdoinham snowmobile club. He also enjoyed spending time at the race track helping his children and grandchildren with race cars. Everyone in town knew that when you drove by his house if the garage door was open, anyone was welcome to stop in if they needed something fixed or just to shoot the bull. What he loved most was spending time with his family.

David was predeceased by his parents Arthur and Lora White, a sister Arlene McPherson, and his brother Richard White.

He leaves behind a wife, Patricia, of 34 years; a daughter, Wendy Stewart and her husband Mike and step-grandsons Hayden and Cole of Durham ME; a son, David A. White and his wife Angela and grandchildren Sierra and Colby of Topsham ME; a son, Shawn White of Whitefield ME and grandchildren Joshua, Addison and Andrew; a sister, Patricia St Jacques of Madison CT; a sister, Janice Head and her husband Chuck of Rogers AR; a brother, Billy White; and a sister, Merrie Cataldo and her husband Wallace of Andover MA; and many nieces and nephews.

We would like to give special thanks to CHANS home hospice. Without the support and help of the nurses, Pam and Lindsey, and other staff we would not have been able to grant my fathers last wish which was to be home with his family. In lieu of flowers any donations to CHANS home hospice at 61 Baribeau Dr, Brunswick, ME 04011, would be greatly appreciated.

A memorial service for David will be held on Saturday September 10, 2016 at the Slovak Hall, 22 Avery st. in Lisbon Falls from 1-4 p.m.
