BRUNSWICK, MAINE—Judy Weeks, a Faithful Servant of God, went home to be with her Lord and Savior August
16th, 2024.
Judy was born on January 26th, 1953 in Brooklyn, New York to Maitland & Julianna (McDonnell) Hallett. She spent her early childhood years on Long Island, New York before moving to Maine at the age of 7. She graduated from Gardiner Area High School and pursued further studies in childhood education. It was during this time that her passion for teaching and nurturing young minds truly blossomed. She spent more than 30 years working with children ending her career at Bowdoin College in Brunswick.
Judy's love for working with children was just one expression of her deep compassion and commitment to helping others. In addition to her work with young people, she also served as a Minister, dedicating herself to spreading her faith and uplifting communities. Her passion for service extended beyond her local area, leading her to engage in missionary work, where she brought hope and support to those in need across different parts of the world including Zimbabwe, Africa and the Dominican Republic.
Judy's dedication to her work was matched only by her love for her family and God. She was a devoted mother, mammy, sister and friend always ensuring that her home was filled with warmth, support, and love. Her family was her greatest joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them. One of her favorite pass times was gathering with her family, cheering on the New England Patriots and watching her favorite TB12.
Judy was diagnosed with stage 4 Kidney cancer and faced her cancer diagnosis with remarkable courage and resilience, fighting through the illness for almost six years. Throughout her battle, she never allowed her spirit to be dimmed. Judy continued to be an active presence in her family's life. One of her greatest joys was attending and cheering on her grandson Jayden at his baseball games and watching her granddaughter Kingsley thrive. Her determination to live life fully, despite the challenges, was a testament to her enduring strength and love for her family.
Judy was predeceased by her daughter, Donielle Weeks, her father Maitland Hallett and her mother Julianna Hallett. She is survived by her daughters, Julie Reese and her husband James of Germany, Jessica Patch and her husband Dave of Brunswick, Maine. 6 Grandchildren, Nicolas and Lucas Gant, Lauren Arsenault, Joanna Arsenault, Jayden Patch and Kingsley. 2 Brothers, Maitland Hallett and his wife Laura of North Carolina, and Charles Hallett of Maine. Several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Many special friends that she endearingly referred to as “Lovey”.
A special thank you to the phenomenal team at New England Cancer Specialists, Dr. Mark Wrona and Dr. Eleni Nackos. The family would also like to thank all the staff at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough for their love and compassion toward Judy and the family during her final days.
A memorial service will be held at Pathway Vineyard Church in Brunswick on Saturday, August 24th at 11:00 a.m.
