Date of Birth: June 28, 1942
Biography:
Beverley Anne Walker, age 82, passed away on September 8, 2024. Much loved by her family, she was passionate about the arts, animals, and gardening; always striving to make the world a better and more beautiful place.
Bev was born on June 28, 1942 in Rangeley, Maine where she lived until 1963. After earning her Associates Degree from Fisher College in Boston she moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan. There she earned her BS degree in Design at University of Michigan and her MA in Studio Art at Eastern Michigan University. After many years summering in Maine, she and her husband began living there full time in 2016.
Following her career as an interior designer at the University of Michigan Hospitals, she devoted herself full time to oil painting. She showed her work in the Ann Arbor Street Art Fair in the 1990’s and subsequently sold her paintings at galleries in Michigan and Maine and many other places. She was co-founder of the WSG Gallery in Ann Arbor and she was on the board of Ann Arbor Women Artists until 1990 when she completed her term as president.
Throughout her life, she volunteered where she saw an urgent need: Meals on Wheels, Court Appointed Special Advocate for Children, and Great Dane Rescue. She enjoyed playing the piano and was the summer organist at United Methodist Church of Round Pond and New Harbor, the organist at Rangeley Baptist Church, and the pianist for her high school and college Glee Clubs.
She is survived by her husband Jack whom she met while studying in Boston. They were married for 60 years. She is also survived by daughters Jacqueline Griebel (Ed), Alison Carrier (Jason), and five grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Janet O’Neil (Dennis), nieces, and nephews.
A celebration of life is being planned for family on the coast of Maine where they spent many happy summers together.
