Biography:
Auburn – Ethel Anna Trefsger, 91, a life-long resident of Philadelphia, PA, passed away at her son's home in Auburn on July 10, 2016. She was the daughter of the late Otto J. and Blanche (Petzold) Goerlich. Ethel attended Dobbins Vocational High School, then WWII training school at the University of Pennsylvania for ship hull drafting and pipe design. She was employed by Cramp's Ship Yard during WWII, doing layout and design. After the war, she worked for 35 years at Honeywell in the Art Department. Ethel was an active member of the Society of Friends Meeting since 1934. She attended Fair Hill Friends in North Philadelphia, then transferred membership to Green St. Meeting, serving on the boards and committees of Stapley Hill and Green St. Friends. Ethel enjoyed the City of Brotherly Love's history, museums, and her center city shopping missions. Ethel is survived by her husband of 74 years, Robert J. Trefsger, and sons Bruce D. Trefsger of Dushore, PA and Robert J. Trefsger Jr. and wife Suzanne of Auburn, ME. She is also survived by her six adored grandchildren, Lisa S. Krack and husband David of Butler, PA; Amy-Ellen Trefsger of Seattle, WA; Gregory O. Trefsger and wife Keirstin of South Portland, ME; Sarah A. Trefsger of Portland, ME; Rachel A. Trefsger of Portland, ME; and Zachary J. Trefsger of Charleston, SC, as well as two beloved great grandchildren, Abigail S. Trefsger and Alexandra S. Trefsger of South Portland, ME, whose activities and growth as young women she enjoyed following. ET
