Biography:
On February 6, 2024, Diane Treacy, 73, of Auburn passed away peacefully at the Androscoggin Hospice House; where she was surrounded by the love of her family and very dear friends. During her two-year battle with ovarian cancer, Diane was a true warrior and continued to live her life to the fullest until the very end.
Diane was born in Lewiston Maine on November 4, 1950 to parents Lionel Roy and Emilienne (Bizier) Roy. She worked at St. Mary’s Hospital as a Ward Clerk starting at age 17 and always talked about how much she loved that job. Diane continued to work in the human services field for her entire life. She worked as a Home Health Aid and ran her own in-home day care center. Diane retired from her role as the Activities Director at The Odd Fellows and Rebekah’s Home of Maine; where she worked for 25 years. She was very creative and touched the lives of the residents that she worked with each day.
Diane loved nature and gardening. She spent countless hours planting trees and landscaping. She was very proud of the fact that she was able to purchase her own house. Diane was also an avid photographer, her friends and family looked forward to her Good Night pictures posted on Facebook each evening.
Diane is survived by her son Joshua Johnson, his wife Kerrie and their children Brody and Brynn of Norwood Massachusetts. She was a fun and active Mimi who enjoyed playing with her grandchildren who she loved very much. Diane is also survived by her daughter Katie Treacy and her fiancé Treven Stoops of Auburn Maine. She also leaves behind several family members and close friends who formed a wonderful support system after she received her diagnosis. Diane was extremely appreciative for the wonderful care that she received from Donna Whiting, Kerrie Johnson and Rachel and Marc Turcotte.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 17th from 12 to 2 p.m. at Funeral Alternatives which is located at 25 Tampa St, Lewiston Maine.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to the Androscoggin Hospice House at 236 Stetson Rd. Auburn ME 04210.
