Biography:
Augusta- Elizabeth “Betty” Trask went to be with the Lord on November 29, 2011 after a courageous battle with a long illness. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Betty was born on 4-13-1948 to Everett “Zeke” Gould and Gerry Foster Gould and raised in Pittston. She is survived by her children Michelle Trask of Hudson Florida and Tanya Brooke and her husband Daniel Brooke of Augusta, Maine. Three grandchildren Ashley Storer, Nicholas O’Neil and Jordan Brooke. Her siblings Everett Gould Jr and his wife Annette, Jerry Gould and his wife Gail, Bill Gould and his wife Celia, Glynn Trask and her husband Mouse, Ruth Gould, Roberta Doyle and her husband Steve, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Betty most recently lived at Cotton Mill apartments in Hallowell, was a very talented seamstress, crafter and artist. She loved to laugh and enjoy those around her. She was best known and loved for her sense of humor. Betty loved to be a jokester and used wit to connect with those she loved. Her family and friends found her very giving and will miss her dearly.
Betty had various passions which resulted in diversified career choices. She owned an alteration and seamstress business with partner Shelly Merrill called “My Best Friend”. Then attended UMA and obtained her social workers license and worked as a social worker with KVCAP for several years. She also worked with displaced homemakers teaching women to dress well on a budget with creative selections of clothes, which was broadcast as the show Yankee Ingenuity on Public Television. As a Personal Care Provider she cared for the health of developmentally challenged adults to help them maintain their independence. She touched the lives of many people.
A celebration of her life will be held at the American Legion Post #2, Outer Capital Street, Augusta, December 3, 2011, 1-5pm.
