Biography:

Franklin J. Tlumac, 79, of Randolph, died on October 21^st, 2014 at his son’s home where he was surrounded by his loving family.

Franklin was born on February 1^st, 1935 in Mt. Pleasant, PA the son of Joseph Tlumac and Mary (Pivovarnic).

After graduating from high school he went on to proudly serve his country in the U.S. Air Force where he retired from after 20 years. He then went on to become a truck driver, which he really enjoyed, especially when family members accompanied him. Franklin retired from this in 1994. After retiring he took care of his grandchildren.

He enjoyed woodworking, building furniture for the kids, reading, and jig saw puzzles.

Franklin is survived his son Sam Tlumac and wife Lorri of Readfield; daughters’ Eileen DeGuisto and husband Charles of Pittston, Dianne Hopkins of Randolph, Anne Tlumac of Winthrop; grandchildren Matthew , Patrick, Gregory Solomon of Augusta, Valarie Lohan of Ellsworth, Nicole Lohan of Augusta, Holly Lohan of CA, Samantha and Tabitha Tlumac of Readfield, Anothony Hopkins of Randolph; great-grandchildren Daniel Reed of Augusta; sisters Audrey and Dolores; brother Andrew and Steve; son in law Michael Solomon of Augusta. He was predeceased by daughter Janice Solomon.

Family and friends are invited to a graveside service with military honors on Friday, October 31^st, at 1 PM, at Maine Veteran’s Cemetery, Mt. Vernon Road. A family gathering will follow the service in Readfield. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Eileen DeGuisto.
