Linden "Lindy" Theriault

Date of Death: April 14, 2022

Date of Birth: November 9, 1943

Biography:

GREENE - Linden E. Theriault, 78 of Greene, passed away on April 14, 2022.

Lindy was born Nov. 9, 1943 in Lewiston to Gladys and Edward Theriault.

As a young boy, Lindy moved to Greene to work on his Uncle Ernest’s farm. He learned the value of hard work. Uncle Ernest taught him how to fix things, including vehicles. The “love” of vehicles started at a young age for him.

Lindy married the love of his life, Brenda Hammond, on Nov.17, 1962. They were one of the lucky couples who were able to share 59 years of marriage together.

Lindy and Brenda chose to settle in Greene by Brenda’s family. Lindy worked for a few local automotive dealers and honed his skills as a fantastic mechanic with great customer service skills.

In 1974, he started Lindy’s Texaco on Rt. 202 in Greene. He was the only local station to offer diesel  fuel for many years. He also sold scooters and added towing services to his lists of services. He and Brenda worked long hours and built a great customer base.

After more than a decade, he moved his business to his home garage and added vehicles sales to his services. He also formed a partnership with his son-in-law, Phil Lavoie.

They eventually moved the business to Rt. 202 again. Lindy retired in 2013.

You could find him chatting with his friends at Georgio’s in Auburn for the last several years, since his retirement.

He loved spending time with his family and friends. You could also find him at many car shows over the years. He always had one of the coolest and cleanest cars in town.

Lindy is survived by his loving wife Brenda, his sidekick, Elvis the cat, his daughters, Sherry Lavoie and her husband Phil of Greene, and Kelly Langlois and her fiancé Mark Tanous of Turner. His brother Ron Theriault and sisters June McGraw and Marcella Hutchinson. His grandson, Jason Cook and his wife Trina of Sabattus and granddaughter Bailey True of Turner. His great grandchildren, Conner, Carson, Jaxon, Eli, Noah and Kaiden.  He was predeceased by his son Linden, his parents,  and brother, Robert.

His family would like to thank everyone who made time to visit him in his last few weeks. They would also like to thank the staff at Androscoggin Home Hospice for all their care and support of him and Brenda since he became very ill.

In lieu of flowers, donations, in his memory, can be made to the Maine Blue Collar Scholarship Foundation ( PO Box606, Gorham, Me 04038 or www.mainebluecollar.com) who supports young folks going into trades or the Greene Fire Department Auxiliary ( 63 Sullivan Rd, Greene, Me 04236).

A graveside service will be held at 12:30 on Saturday, May 14,2022 at Valley Cemetery on Rt. 202 in Greene with a Celebration of Life directly following at Lindy’s Auto , 518 Rt. 202, Greene, Me. Arrangements are in the care of Funeral Alternatives, 24 Tampa St. Lewiston. Condolences may be shared at FuneralAlternatives.net
