Robert Clinton Taylor
Bob was born on June 13, 1937 in Houlton, Maine. He was the son of Clinton and Eleanor Taylor. In 2004, he was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease. It was an everyday battle with many challenges. On November 26, 2024, Bob passed away peacefully at the Maine Veteran's Home in Augusta, Maine at the age of 87 surrounded by his adoring wife and loving family.
His love of family and family get-togethers were the highlights of his life. Sixty nine years ago, he married his high school sweetheart, Freda Noll, who was always there through the good and bad times. Without her, he wouldn't have been able to accomplish what he did in his career. They had two wonderful daughters, Marcia Crooker and Robin Taylor. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Angela Nelson and Nathan Crooker and four great grandchildren, Sebra and Annika Nelson; Abraham and Cecilia Crooker.
Bob was an avid sports fan. He played sports with love and passion. In high school, he played basketball and baseball at a high level. He was selected to the Penquis League Basketball All Star 1st Team for two years in a row 1953 and 1954. He boasted with pride that he was the last of the great two-handed set shot artists. Bob also enjoyed being an IAABO Basketball Official. He was an enthusiastic lifetime card player enjoying Scat, Cribbage, Black Jack and Texas Hold'Em.
Following high school, Bob joined the Marines Corps serving from 1955-58. After the Marines, he worked construction and for the Pacific Railroad. Thereafter, he found his true career path in the leather industry with Dexter Shoe Company where he worked from 1958-1975. Here, Bob experienced a variety of jobs including shoe cutter and leather sorter before being promoted to Leather Supervisor/Product Development. Taking on a challenge in 1975, Bob and his family relocated to Williamsport, PA accepting a position with Cobblers as VP of Purchasing & Product Development. In 1978, Import Leather in Exeter, NH sought after his leather expertise and he accepted a position as VP Director of Product Development/Supervisor of Warehouse and Sales. After extensive travel for Import Leather, in 1980 Bob decided to return to his Maine roots and worked the remainder of his career at Dexter Shoe as Leather Supervisor and Head of Product Development. He retired in 2000 after 37 years of employment at Dexter. He was always considered top notch at his trade. Bob enjoyed the challenge of going to work everyday. He believed you must always stay focused, no matter what you do in life.
Bobs wishes were for a "Celebration of Life" with immediate family. He requested his gravesite be adorned with yellow roses and Louis Armstrong's voice singing "What A Wonderful World".
