Wei-Teh Tai

Date of Birth: June 22, 1923

Biography:

Wei-Teh Tai, age 95, a devoted mother, wife and caregiver and a most diligent and untiring nurse, died peacefully at home while her granddaughter, daughter, and son-in-law were happily chit-chatting by computer at her bedside. The quote that best describes Wei-Teh's life journey is "And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom." She was truly amazing at adapting to each life challenge to survive. She survived being a premature baby, a first born girl in 1920's China. She survived the Japanese invasion and the communist takeover of China. She had great capacity to heal and adapt to each decline of aging, recovering each time from the brink of death when her children, grandchildren or great-grandchild would come to say goodbye over the last two years. She was born in Jiangyin City, Jiangsu Province, China, the eldest of five children of Zuoyi Qian and Yuzhen Wang. She grew up in her family home inside the grounds of Zhongshan Park, that served as a photography studio for her father. She was a 36th generation descendant of the King of 5 Dynasties and 10 Kingdoms of China, Qian Liu, who ruled from 907 to 932. She began her nursing career at Shaoxing Fukang Hospital, then due to undiagnosed illness, relocated to Air Force Hospital in Shanghai, where she met her life partner of 59 years, Dr. Tse-Wu Tai. She paid meticulous attention to people and their preferences to create peaceful relationshipsWei-Teh Tai is predeceased by her husband, Tse-Wu Tai, M.D. Surviving are her three younger brothers and one younger sister in China, and three children, son, Eugene Tai, M.D., and wife Rosa, of Alabama, daughter, Grace Kolb, and husband, Mark, of Connecticut, daughter, Karen Morency, and husband, Dan, of Freeport, five grandchildren, Anthony Tai and wife, Joannah Kim of Maryland, & Lee-Kai Tai and wife Ella Shao of China, Amber Kolb, Ian & DanielleMorency, and great-grandchild, Audrey Tai.No services are planned.
