David Shane Stevens

Biography:

David Shane Stevens passed away peacefully, surrounded by love, on November 3, 2024.

Born January 27, 1956 he grew up in Auburn Maine and joined the Air Force where he served, honorably, for 3 years.

David had a love for nature, animals, card games- especially Rummy and Cribbage, books, television, chess, and all things computers. He had a sense of humor and liked to make people laugh. He held various jobs through the years, including 16 years of helping people overcome addiction.

David is pre-deceased by his son: Paul Stevens, parents: Joyce and George Stevens, brother Daniel Stevens, and niece Melissa Stevens.

David is survived by his brother: Michael Stevens and his wife Lisa of Monmouth, Maine, his children: Stephanie Downing and her husband Chevis of Austin, TX, Joseph Stevens and his fiancé Jocelyn of Turner, Maine, and Jennifer Coughlin and her husband Kevin of Peabody, MA. He is also survived by 3 grandchildren who he loved very much, and struggled keeping their names straight: Porter Downing, Patrick and Parker Coughlin. He is survived also by nieces and cousins.

The family would like to extend all their gratitude to the Maine Veterans Home of South Paris, where David found a home for the past 6 years and received loving care from the moment he walked in the door until the moment he left, and all the days in between. He loved the staff there and the staff loved him, and it was evident in the care provided at the end of his life. The family will be forever grateful.
