Biography:
Kathryn Ann Stevens, 68, of Brunswick passed away on June 9 after a two-year illness. She was born February 24, 1948 in Fredericksburg, Texas to Marguerite and Homer Lee Stevens. She grew up on a ranch in Harper, Texas. She graduated from Harper High School and attended the University of Texas at Austin. She lived and worked in Austin. In 1977, she married Greg Arehart. They had two sons, Aaron and Jonathan Arehart. She did accounting and bookkeeping for Perlmutter and Schuelke as well as The Natural Gardener. In 2003 she moved to Maine to be with her partner, Sandy Chipman, whom she married in 2013. She worked at Warren Construction Group and was involved with the Tom Settlemire Community Garden. From childhood, she was an active reader of all genres. She always had books checked out from the library and encouraged her sons to do the same. She loved gardening, hiking, and walking her dog, Nell. She was pre-deceased by her parents and her sister, Martha Stevens. She is survived by her spouse, Sandy Chipman; her son Aaron Arehart and his girlfriend Annie Quach of Portland, Oregon;, her son Jonathan Arehart of Austin, Texas; her ex-husband, Greg Arehart of Austin, and a number of cousins, nieces, and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 1 PM on Thursday, June 16, 2016 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 27 Pleasant Street in Brunswick. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Tom Settlemire Community Garden or the Curtis Memorial Library in Brunswick.
