Shirley F. Smith

Biography:

Shirley F (Pease) Smith went home to be with the Lord at age 89 at her home in Leeds, Maine on January 5, 2025, with family by her side.

The youngest born of 4 plus 1 adopted to Alton A and Erna M Pease of Leeds, ME on November 7, 1935.  She was a graduate of Monmouth Academy, and then attended Bible School in Illinois where she met and married Elmer E Smith of Hagerstown, MD., who later passed in 2018.  They had 5 children Carole (Philip Warner), Michael (Methyl), Wayne and girlfriend Nancy Bouffard, Gary (Tammy), and Rachael (Jerry Evens).

Shirley lived in Maine, Maryland, and Florida, and worked in textile mills, a rubber stamp factory, a Power steering factory, Murphy Homes and cleaned homes.

Shirley and Elmer (later called Gene) eventually settled back in Maine where they would live out their retirement years.  She loved her dogs, garden, and helping landscape their property, and playing the piano for the church that she called 'family'.

She leaves behind 5 children, Carole (Philip) Warner, Michael (Methyl) Wayne and girlfriend Nancy Bouffard, Gary (Tammy) and Rachel (Jerry) 13 grandchildren, 1 step grandchild, 30 great-grandchildren, and 2 step grandchildren.

She will truly be missed.  A Celebration of Life will be held May 10, 2025 at 11A.M. at Faith Alliance Church, 18 Pleasant St., Winthrop, ME.  Donations can be made to Faith Alliance Church or Andwell Hospice 15 Strawberry Avenue, Lewiston ME in memory of Shirley F Smith.  Many thanks to Andwell Hospice Care and their team.
