Biography:
BATH — Cora E. Sheen 86, passed away peacefully at her home on March 1, 2011 after a brief illness. She was born January 23, 1925 in Rockland, Maine to Herbert and Marian Stephens.
She was a graduate of Morse High School, and worked a variety of jobs in the area; from BIW to Congress Sportswear, Stinson’s Canning, to finally retiring from Zayres department store in Brunswick. Before WWII, she married Raymond A. Sheen and watched him go off to war. Upon his return they settled in to raising a family. Cora was a snow bird until the early 2000’s in several areas of Florida. She has traveled all over the United States and lived in Trenton, NJ, Allentown, PA, and also Alabama and Florida. As a true Mainer she returned home and settled in Woolwich, ME for nearly 40 years before retiring to Bath, ME. Cora came from a musical family and she enjoyed singing and playing guitar. She loved to knit and crochet, and she was a diehard fan of both NASCAR and the Boston Red Sox.
Cora was pre deceased by her husband Raymond A Sheen, and three siblings; Edna Cote, Arthur Stephens, and Herbert Stephens, as well as two children; Sandra A. Sheen Saxton, and Raymond A. Sheen Jr.
She is survived by a sister Dorothy Cote, of West Gardiner and two daughters; Linda M. Sheen Creamer, of Rochester, New Hampshire and Kelly S. Sheen Johnson, of Woolwich, Maine as well as one son Edward H. Sheen of Woolwich. Being a strong woman Cora spread the births of her children over a span of 25 years. She is also survived by her many beloved grandchildren: Elizabeth Farmer, Suzanne Saxton, Norbert “Skip” Saxton Jr., Karen Amos, Richard Sheen, Russell Sheen, Raymond Sheen III, Sarah Sheen, Joshua Smith, Trevor Smith, and Hunter Johnson, along with many great grandchildren, nephews, nieces and friends.
Cora was best known for her kind heart, and willingness to go out of her way to help others even when terribly sick. The world has lost a great woman who will be dearly missed by many.
