Biography:
Marc Henri Scribner passed away from a recurring illness on October 23, 2020. Born on April 17, 1957 in Portland Me, he was the first born of Carroll and Jeannine Scribner. Marc spent most of his formative years in Lewiston the oldest of four children, his father a local school principal his mother a teacher. He participated in many common boyhood activities; boy scouts, little league and fly football but Marc preferred quieter pastimes. He became a voracious reader, science buff and scale modeler. One of Marc’s most notable attributes was his fascination with military machinery; armored vehicles, tanks and aircraft. His uncanny memory for details of each aircraft or jeep, amazing to say the least, gave him the keen ability to bring plastic scale models to life with details and nuances that most would never think of. In high school, Marc became interested in electronics and began building gadgets from kits purchased at Radio Shak. During his senior year, Marc entered the delayed enlistment program for the US Navy, graduating from technical school as an avionics electrician. He spent 17 years in the Navy, achieving he rank of Petty Officer 2nd Class. He traveled the world on aircraft carriers or flew on P3 Orion submarine hunter airplanes. Much of his time was spent at the US Naval Station in Brunswick Me, but he loved to tell stories of his years in Bermuda, the Azores, Spain and Greece. Marc was very proud of his years in the Navy, showing that pride in every facet of his life. At the end of his time of enlistment, Marc returned to Lewiston, working primarily in the security industry, on several occasions providing safety on movie sets in Maine. More than once he recanted his story of meeting Kevin Costner over a plate of donuts and cup of coffee. During his final years, Marc was fortunate to take up residence with his mother, both giving and receiving comfort as his health waned.
Marc is predeceased by his mother, Jeannine Carignan Valley. He is survived by his father Lt. Col. Carroll Scribner Retired, his stepmother Sandra Scribner, sister Laural Grant and husband Don, sister Kristine Cornish and husband Jim, brother Donald Scribner and wife Pam, 7 nieces and nephews and 4 great nieces and nephews.
