Roland Arthur Roy

Date of Death: December 24, 2023

Date of Birth: September 4, 1953

Biography:

Lewiston- Roland Arthur Roy (70), of Lewiston, died peacefully at Marshwood Center on December 24th, 2023 due to natural causes.

Roland was born to William “Willie” and Rachel (Michaud) Roy, on September 4th, 1953, in Lewiston, Maine. Roland spent parts of his childhood in Lewiston, on his cherished Little Wilson Pond in Turner, Maine, and with his loving extended family in Oldtown, Maine. Roland graduated from Lewiston High School in 1971 and later spent two years learning carpentry at Central Maine Vocational Technical Institute. Roland showed incredible work ethic and skill as a professional carpenter. He leaves behind several buildings that he raised from the ground up. Roland loved his work and took pride in providing an excellent life for his family.

Although Roland was an expert carpenter, he was most passionate about his family and friends. He treasured his role as a father and later as a grandfather, constantly showing warmth and kindness to the children in his life. Roland loved telling stories about his family and his childhood; he was a true historian of the Roy and Michaud family trees. Roland was often a man of few words, but when he did speak it was usually to express his love or to make a joke. Roland loved making people laugh, never shying away from an opportunity to bring humor to a situation. Roland enjoyed swimming and lounging at Little Wilson Pond, spending the weekends at his camp on the lake whenever he could. He also enjoyed hunting, collecting antiques, and especially getting together with family and friends.

Roland is survived by his sons, William “Willie” Roy, Belami Beaulieu, and Jacob Beaulieu; his former spouse, Patricia Bussiere; his grandchildren Bo, Luke, Tucker, Shelby, Marshall, Kyle, Brandon, Isaac, Amaya, and Elliot Beaulieu; his sister Rita (Roy) Fontaine; and countless other beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Roland was predeceased by his parents, William and Rachel, and his brother, Richard “Dick” Roy.

A public service will be held on January 5th, 2024, at Funeral Alternatives, 25 Tampa St., in Lewiston. Public visitation hours will be held from 12 PM – 2 PM; a public memorial service will be held from 2 PM – 3 PM.
