Biography:

Susan Jean Richards—Monmouth--Susan Jean Richards, 62, passed away unexpectedly from complications of COVID on the evening of Thursday, the 25th of November. Susan was born on March 16, 1959 in Milo, Maine to her parents Sherrill (Royal) and Ronald Richards. Susan went to school in Danbury CT from K-5th grade. The family later moved to Brownville, ME where she continued school and married Danny Ray Burton in 1973. They had three children: Anthony, Amy and Sarah Burton. Susan ran a daycare in Lisbon Falls and went on to continue her education becoming a licensed cosmetologist. She opened her beauty salon in South Gardiner where she lived. She later remarried Raymond Mosher and moved to Monmouth where she began raising and training her beloved horses, Willow, Cherokee, Arrow, Beauty, Dancer and Lakota. Susan worked at Bates College in Lewiston for over 15 years. She loved to travel, garden, bake and crochet, but more than anything she loved helping others. Susan was known for crocheting hats, mittens and scarfs every year to donate to those who were less fortunate. She took great joy in volunteering her time at the Lewiston Animal Shelter and the Homestead Church Store. Susan is predeceased by her father Ronald Richards, brother Garry Richards, her sister Judith Kemp, nephew Andrew Peterson and grandmother Nanny. Susan is survived by her husband Raymond Mosher; son, Anthony Wayne Burton Greenville, SC, daughter Amy Kathleen Willauer, and husband Dick Richmond, ME, daughter Sarah Dawn Burton of Gardiner, ME; grandchildren: Dean York, Derek York, Brittany York, Dakota Willett and Dustin McDonald; great grandchildren: Dayne York, Ian York and Kadah York; her mother Sherrill Abrams of Lewiston; her lifelong childhood friend, Janice Heal of Milo and her best friend Brenda Getchell of Litchfield and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. We love you Mom and you will be forever in our hearts. A memorial service with reception to follow will be Saturday, December 11 at 11 a.m. At Sabattus Baptist Church, 9 Main St. Sabattus, ME.
