Biography:
Jean Laurier “Larry” Poulin passed away January 10, 2024 of pancreatic cancer. He grew up in Danville (Auburn), Maine. He was the first born son of Jean Thomas Poulin and Lillian G. Vaillancourt Poulin. He is survived by his wife of 54 years Anita F Boisvert Poulin, his three children: Shalimar Poulin Chassé (Scott Hunt), Valori Poulin Radonis (Keith) and Christopher T. Poulin (Charlene) and five grandchildren: Quinn, Lilly and Lucien Radonis, Mason and Nolan Poulin. He is also survived by one brother Richard “Norm”Poulin of Texas, two brother in laws George J. Boisvert of NH and Gerard R. Boisvert of Lewiston,5 nieces and 2 nephews.
Larry worked in the building industry with his father for ten years under Poulin’s Drywall, then owned and operated Jean L. Poulin Drywall for eight years. In 1978 he was hired by Lewiston Housing Authority as a Maintenance Mechanic and worked there until his early retirement in 2003 due to ill health.
Larry was a quiet man of strong faith with a wonderful sense of humor who enjoyed spending time with his family, tending his large garden, his apple trees and his favorite patch of strawberries. Neighbors, family and friends were often happily surprised to find vegetables and fruits left on their back steps. He enjoyed horseback riding on old Charlie Brown and sitting along the Royal River bank fishing his favorite spots while puffing on a cigar to ward off mosquitoes. He loved Friday “movie nights” with his wife eating homemade pizza, a fresh batch of “puffcorn” and a bowl of chocolate peanut butter ice cream. He was a talented furniture builder/restorer and a skilled stained glass craftsman. One of his greatest joys was attending the college graduations and wedding celebrations for each of his children.
The family wishes to thank the nurses and doctors on R5 at Maine Medical in Portland and the wonderful medical staff at Androscoggin Hospice House in Auburn for their exceptional care of Larry in his last week of life.
The family invites friends and family to join them on January 24 at 11:00 for a Catholic Funeral Mass at Sacred Heart Church in Auburn followed with interment at St. Peter’s Cemetery, Lewiston. We encourage everyone to wear the color “Red”, Larry’s favorite color.
