Biography:

Patricia Ann Young Pooters 90 of Freeport died November 6, 2024 


Patricia was born June 21 1934 to Nadia Wermick Young and George S Young in  Long Island City, New York.
Patricia attended schools in Maspeth Queens and graduated from Newtown High in Elmhurst New York in 1952.


She married George L Pooters and together they had 4 children. 


Patricia worked on Wall Street and at other financial institutions in New York. She assisted her husband in his business. After moving to Maine in 1970 she worked at LL Bean in the accounting department. She went on from there to work for the University of Maine Cooperative Extension Service as a Nutrition Aide. She also worked with the York-Cumberland County Area on Aging as a meal site manager. She eventually transitioned into police work, first as a crossing guard in Freeport then as a dispatcher for the Town of Freeport and later the Town of Brunswick from which she retired in 1996. She also spent many years serving as church secretary for her church the First Parish Church Congregational United Church of Christ in Freeport and later as secretary for the Unitarian Universalist Church of Yarmouth Maine.


She was a woman of strong faith and was very active in her church, singing in the choir and working on a variety of committees.


Patricia spent many years volunteering as a poll worker during elections and was politically active all her life. She also volunteered at Freeport Community Services,  volunteered as an advocate for foster children and was on the board of directors for the Freeport Elders and Freeport Housing Trust


She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star since 1997 and held several position within the organization.


Patricia was an avid reader and loved to travel both in the U.S and abroad. She was always knitting either for family or church mission work.


She is survived by her children Linda Foster and her spouse Rob Dall, Margaret Stachowiak, Sharon Young and  her spouse Vance Bessey and her son George L Pooters Jr and his spouse Brenda, her grandchildren Danelle, Tara, Joseph, Kristen, Philip, Dana and step grandchildren Ryan, Lara, Lucas and Katie and great grandchildren, Brady, Taylor, Elijah, Dryden, Abel, Quinn, Raylene, Kyla, Jameson, and Kaya.
She is also survived by her sister Thelma and cousins Olga , Lorraine, Lenora, and Kristen Perry who was like a sister to her.

Funeral service will be held at the First Parish Church Congregational United Church of Christ in Freeport On November 23 at 10 AM.
