Biography:
GARDINER - Janice Clark Plaisted, 74, of Gardiner, died on Friday, Oct. 25 at her home, with her family by her side.
Janice was born in Gardiner on May 24, 1939, the daughter of late Herman and Eva J. Clark. After graduating from Gardiner High School, she worked at State Police Headquarters in Augusta. On May 21, 1961, she married Trooper Robert S. Plaisted. She served as office manager for Maine School Administrative District 16 (Hall-Dale) for 15 years. She was an avid crafts person for many years, having several lavish open houses, displaying and selling her crafts. During their 50 years of marriage, the Plaisteds raised three beautiful daughters whom they were very proud of. She was affiliated with Cox Memorial United Methodist Church in Hallowell.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband, Robert, who passed away in 2011; her brother Herman; and her granddaughter, Ayla.
anice will be sadly missed by her children, Lori Linn Plaisted-Colfer, Lorna Leigh Plaisted and Linda Louise Plaisted; her grandchildren, who she adored, Adam Plaisted, Andrew Bickford, John Fredericks and Isabelle Martinez; her great-granddaughter, Danaya Plaisted, and her great-granddaughter, Zaylah Plaisted, who was born two days after Janice's passing; her brother, John Clark, of Rangeley; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 3 at Hallowell Cemetery. Instead of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Ronald McDonald House, 250 Brackett St., Portland, ME 04102. Arrangements are by Funeral Alternatives, Western Avenue, Augusta.
