Date of Birth: June 29, 1930
Biography:
AUBURN – Gloria C. Parker, 94 of Auburn, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, November 15, in the ICU at Maine Medical Center in Portland following a brief stay at Brentwood Rehab and Nursing Facility in Yarmouth where she was receiving rehab for a sprained ankle.
She had been a resident at Schooner Estates in Auburn for the past seven years surrounded by an amazing staff and wonderful friends. She enjoyed countless activities, events and outings while residing there.
Gloria was born in Lewiston on June 29,1930, daughter of the late Daniel A. Nuzzo and Elnora M. (Dearborn) Nuzzo. The oldest of nine children, she graduated from Lewison High School with the class of 1948 and married the love of her life, Alden, on July 31, 1948.
They lived in the Lewiston/Auburn area for many years prior to moving to Owl’s Head in1973 and then to Spruce Head in1984 where they resided for a total of 33 years. In 2006, they moved back to Lewiston to be closer to family.
Gloria took immense pride in her home. You could always find her spending time outside in her flower garden. She enjoyed cooking, reading, knitting and always looked forward to playing cards with family and friends.
Prior to moving to Owl’s Head, Gloria had worked at Raytheon and Tambrands. In her later years, after raising her family, she returned to work part-time in the produce department at Shaw’s in Rockland where she spent 16 years.
Sadly a few years after moving back to Lewiston, her husband began experiencing episodes of dementia and was no longer able to live at home. Gloria spent every afternoon visiting and caring for him until his passing in 2015 from a courageous battle with Alzheimers.
Shortly after his passing, she moved to Schooner Estates.
Gloria will always be remembered for her hard work, ability to make friends easily and how she loved to laugh. She was well loved and will always be remembered for her kind heart.
She is survived by her three children, Daniel Parker and his wife, Diana of Mechanic Falls, Jill Parker of Bridgton and Kimberly Diamond of Stoneham. She is also survived by six grandchildren and five great grandchildren, Greg Chenard of Lewiston, Lynn (Chenard) Kazakis, her husband, Nick and their sons, Kale, Kaiden and Camden of St. Augustine, Florida, Hillary Parker and partner, Tom Savage of West Grove, Pennsylvania, Ammie Parker and her children, Brynn and Odin of Juneau, Alaska and Patrick Diamond and his partner, Mitch Corwin of Portland and Isabella Diamond of Portland.
