Biography:

Kevin "Kev" Alan McLane, Sr.
RAYMOND - Kevin "Kev" Alan McLane, Sr., 53 passed away on February 16, 2024, with his loving family by his side, due to complications from a massive heart attack. He fought for two weeks to wake up, but God had other plans for him. Kevin was an amazing husband, dad, father-in-law, fur kitty dad, fur kitty granddad, brother, nephew, cousin, uncle, and friend to many. He was a kind and gentle soul with the most beautiful hazel eyes that made him look like he was smiling even when he was not. He will be forever loved and missed. Kevin was born on October 20, 1970, in York, Pennsylvania, to Donald Franklin McLane, Sr. and Sandra Lee Zink McLane. His sister Teresa and brother Donald proudly welcomed him into the family. After his father died his mother married Donald Andrew Davis, Sr. who became his stepfather. Kevin loved going to the beach in Ocean City, Maryland each year for a family vacation. Kevin graduated in 1989 from Dallastown Area High School in Dallastown. He was a competitive swimmer for many years on the school swim team. In 1990 Kevin enlisted in the Navy at Harrisburg MEPS, in New Cumberland. He attended Recruit School, Seaman General Skill Training, FC "A" School, CIWS Tech Enhancement Training, and Navy Leadership Courses. His specialties were CIWS MK-15 Block Technician "Phalanx Close-In Weapon System” and an Information Systems Administrator. In 1994 while stationed on his first ship the USS Constellation CV-64 in San Diego, California Kevin got his orders to report to the USS John "Johnny Mac" S. McCain, DDG-56 in Bath, Maine. While the ship was in its final stages of being built by Bath Iron Works, the sailors stayed at the Holliday Inn of Bath. He met his soulmate, Karen Lee Wilson, as she checked him in at the front desk for his stay. It was love at first sight for both and from that point they were inseparable. Within three months after their first meeting Kevin proposed to Karen on Fox Island at Popham Beach. They were married on June 18, 1994, in Hampton, New Hampshire. Within months they were off for his orders for sea duty at the Naval Station Pearl Harbor in Oahu, Hawaii. After six months of living in beautiful Hawaii on December 18, 1994, Kevin and Karen renewed their wedding vows at Diamond Head. The next year they welcomed their son Kevin "Kevy" Alan McLane, Jr. on August 14, 1995. In 1997 they were off for his orders for shore duty at the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Dahlgren, Virginia. After shore duty, it was too hard to leave Karen and Kevy for sea duty again, so Kevin decided to separate from the Navy. He proudly served his country for almost 12 years ending his career as an FC1(SW). During his Naval career, he received these military decorations: Navy Achievement Medal (2), Navy Good Conduct Medal (2), National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Flag Letter of Commendation (3), Naval Certificates “Order of the Shellback” which celebrated the crossing of the equator, and “Order of the Ditch” which celebrated crossing through the Panama Canal. He also was an Honorary Plank Owner from the USS Constellation CV-64 and the USS John “Johnny Mac” S. McCain, DDG-56. In 2000 they moved back to Karen's home state of Maine and Kevin found a job working for Dielectric/Radiodetection SPX in Raymond. He worked for 23 years as a Senior Technician until his sudden passing in February. He also worked for Trilliant contracted by CMP updating Smart Meters for 2 years. During this time, they found a beautiful piece of land in Raymond on Tenny Hill Road. Kevin and Karen designed their two-story cape and two-car garage with love and patience. They also did this when designing the landscape around their home. Kevin along with Karen by his side put crushed stone all around their house and garage, built railroad tie steps into the side hill to the back yard, a blue stone walkway to the front door, and a blue stone patio in front of the walkout basement door. Kevin loved his family, deeply and there wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for them. He had recently bought land in Casco with Karen on Davis Brook Road to build a forever-generational home with their newly married son Kevy and his husband Isaac. Kevin’s hobbies and interests were astronomy/astrology and anything in the tech world. He loved watching satellites at night, looking at the stars, and watching every launching of the latest spacecraft from NASA. He enjoyed fixing computers for family and friends and developing new programs. He loved the beach, bird watching, eating out, fishing, going on car rides, listening to music, and movies, playing games on his iPad or iPhone, spending time with family and friends, and sports of any kind (Bruins, Celtics, Red Sox, and Patriots being his #1 favorites), swimming, walking, watching TV, and wildlife. He was predeceased by his grandparents, parents; Donald and Sandra Zink McLane, stepfather; Donald Davis, a special niece; Jessica McLane, aunts, uncles, cousins, fur kitties, and friends. Kevin is survived by his loving wife and soulmate of 29 years; Karen, son; Kevin (Isaac) McLane-Friend, fur kitties; Matty, Kelsey, Marley, Kayleigh, and Kassidy, fur grand kitties; Jazmin and Teddy, sister; Teresa (John) Fox, nephews; John (Kerri) Fox and Matthew (Lindsay) Fox, niece; Amanda (Matthew) Bertino, brother; Donald (Jodi) McLane, Jr., nephews; Donald (Alecsandra) McLane, III, and Dylan (Magdalyn) McLane, nieces; Chelsea McLane and Chloe McLane, aunt; Cynthia (Charles) Huson, cousin; Cody (Rebecca) Huson, stepsisters; Katrina Davis (Thomas) McCoy and Teresa (Robert) Milne, stepbrothers; Donald Davis, Jr., David (Kelly) Davis, and Charles Davis, aunts, uncles, cousins, great nieces and nephews, and many friends.
