Dawn E. McCraney

Date of Death: May 21, 2023

Date of Birth: March 8, 1945

Biography:

Dawn E. McCraney passed away peacefully with her husband David by her side. Dawn was born in Brunswick, Maine on March 8, 1945 to Frank Robshaw and Clara Lavern Robshaw {Richardson}.

On May 10, 1980 Dawn married David McCraney and spent numerous years as a Navy wife. During her years as a Navy wife, she was able to call Florida, Virginia, and Maryland her home before returning to Maine to live the rest of her years.

As a young child Dawn was able to spend time with her grandparents who owned Citizens Laundry on Maine Street in Brunswick, which is later changed to JJ Cleaners. She loved to reminisce about roller skating in the laundry and whipping through some sheets that the employees had just cleaned as she rolled down a ramp with her new skates that her grandparents had given her.

During her adult years she did multiple jobs including driving a taxi, working at local movie theaters, babysitting, and working as a security guard at the Navy Exchange. Her hobbies included playing Bingo, working on puzzles, playing computer games, reading and crocheting many blankets, scarves and hats. She had an eye for the colors that she crocheted and enjoyed giving the items as gifts to people.

Dawn was predeceased by her parents. She is survived by her husband David of 43 years, three children; son Stanley Rowe and his wife Jane of Brunswick, Maine, daughter Natalie Byrd and her husband Ray of Watervliet, Michigan, and daughter Kimberley Rowe of Jacksonville, Florida. She also had three grandchildren; Jennifer McCormick, Julie Sirk, and Shawn Rowe. Dawn also had seven great-grandchildren; Dillon, Alannah, Aiden, Gage, Mila, Addison, and AJ.

The family would like to thank the nurses from CHANS Home Health and Hospice for the care they gave to Dawn. With their help it was possible for Dawn to be at home during her last days.

There will be no visiting hours or funeral per Dawn's request. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to CHANS Home Health and Hospice 45 Baribeau Drive, Brunswick, ME.
