Biography:
Paul D. Mathieu was born on August 11th ,1942 and passed on November 13th, 2024 at eighty-two years old.
Paul lived in Lewiston, Maine with his beloved wife of sixty-two years, Jeanne (Begin) Mathieu. He departed this earth in a room full of love in the presence of his cherished family members.
Paul is predeceased by his parents Dolard Mathieu and Anna (Turmel) Mathieu, and is recently predeceased by his daughter Claudette Morrissette, who is survived by her spouse Lee Morrissette. Paul is survived by his wife Jeanne (Begin) Mathieu and three of their four children: his son Gerard Mathieu and his spouse Donna, his daughter Debra Lesniak, and his daughter Cathy Cote and her spouse Paul Cote. Paul is also survived by his siblings, John Mathieu and his spouse Beatrice Mathieu (predeceased), Leo Mathieu and his spouse Sue Mathieu, and his sister Jeanne (Mathieu) Arneault and her spouse Ronald Arneault. Paul leaves behind eleven grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren whom he loved dearly. Grandchildren: Kristy Lesniak, Michael Lesniak and his spouse Brittni Lesniak, Anna Labbe and her spouse Nicholas Labbe, Joelle Koenig and her spouse Yanick Koenig, Brian Lesniak, Crickett Cote, Darcy Bashir and her spouse Waleed Bashir, Gerard Morrissette and his spouse Jessica Morrissette, Mark Morrissette and his spouse Pamela Morrissette, Paul Mathieu and his spouse Danita Mathieu, and James Mathieu and his spouse Nicole Mathieu. Great Grandchildren: Destiny Lesniak, Wyatt Lesniak, Mary Lesniak, Mason Lesniak, Brockton Morrissette, Jaydon Morrissette, Zachary Morrissette, Dylan Morrissette, Brea Mathieu, Cullen Mathieu, Emma Mathieu, Ellie Mathieu (predeceased), Cadence Koenig, Jeremiah Koenig, Aria Koenig and Paislee Koenig.
In his teenage years Paul worked at Hillcrest Poultry where he met Jeanne, the love of his life. Later, he worked various jobs as an oil and burner serviceman for Ray Pare, and as a sewer for Belmont Shoe. Paul also worked as an en engineer for the State of Maine at Pineland Hospital, and Augusta State.
Paul enjoyed fishing and hunting, and time spent with his beloved family, making them laugh with his notorious “Pepere Jokes”. He will be dearly missed by his friends and family, to whom he always brought so much mischief and laughter. May he rest in peace knowing that he will forever be in their hearts.
Following Paul’s wishes, on December 2nd, 2024, at 11am there will be a prayer ceremony at St. Peter’s Cemetery on Deer Rd, Lewiston, ME. There will be a celebration of life to follow from 1:30-3:330 PM at Wales Presbyterian Church (668 Pond Rd, Wales, ME 04280).
