Biography:

FALMOUTH – Dorothy J. Loker, 95, of Falmouth went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 11, 2017. She was born October 17, 1921 in Westbrook, ME, the daughter of Peter and Dora (Petersen) Dyhrberg.

Dorothy was a graduate of Falmouth High School, class of 1939. She went on to train as a Registered Nurse at Maine Eye & Ear Infirmary in Portland, completing her training in 1942. She served as Lieutenant in the Navy at a base in San Diego. She was married to Charles Loker in January 1949.

After leaving the Navy she worked doing private duty nursing in Portland. She then did one hospital stay as a nurse, and then industrial nursing at Sanders Associates, JJ Nissen Bakery, and Data General until her retirement.

Dorothy was an avid reader. She enjoyed attending church and was a member of Emmaus Lutheran Church in Falmouth.

She was predeceased by her parents, Peter and Dora Dyhrberg, and her husband, Charles Loker.

She is survived by a son, Charles Loker of Falmouth; grandchildren, Charles Loker II and his wife Meggan, and Kristine Kittredge; great-grandchildren, Kaylie, Cassandra, Charlie, and Mykensey; sister, Phyllis Johnson of Falmouth; brother, Earl Dyhrberg of Gray; and nieces, Mary Burns and Sandra Johnson.

The family wishes to extend a heartfelt Thank You to the staff and nurses of Gosnell Memorial Hospice House as well as the VNA Home Health & Hospice nurses for the care and compassion shown toward Dorothy.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Dorothy's memory to the Emmaus Lutheran Church, 265 Middle Road, Falmouth, ME 04105.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at 11am at Blanchard Cemetery in Falmouth.
