Date of Birth: September 4, 1946
Biography:
Susan E. Littlefield 78 of Topsham passed away peacefully at home on April 28, 2025 after losing her courageous battle with cancer. She was born on September 4, 1946 in Lisbon Maine, the daughter of Arno and Pearl (Lakin) Bulick. She grew up in the town of Webster (now Sabattus) where she attended school and graduated from Sabattus High School in 1966. She married George “Babe” Littlefield in December 1968, and they bought a piece of land in Topsham where together they built a small farm. She was well known for her kindness to the neighbors inviting them to her property for ice skating, sledding, flying kites, cross country skiing, walking around her fields or just hanging out, and she loved to have the neighborhood kids visit and always kept them entertained and hydrated with “well juice”. She loved meeting new people and was known as “Aunt Sue” to almost everyone she knew and she was always going out of her way to help others. She had many interests, a love of gardening, canning, sewing, quilting and many other crafts, some of which she entered into the exhibition halls at many of the local fairs and won many ribbons over the years. She had an adventurous spirit and a love for travel, Sweden, Maui, and Disney were among some of her favorites. She enjoyed hosting and planning gatherings and cookouts for family and friends. She made sure to get plenty of Maine blueberries and strawberries every year to fill the freezer so she could make blueberry cakes and strawberry shortcakes for gatherings or thank you gifts, and her annual trip to Houlton to get a truck load of potatoes to give out to neighbors, family and friends was something she truly enjoyed. She retired from L.L.Bean in 2003. She was a member of Hawthorn Chapter 104/Electra Chapter #2 Order of the Eastern Star. She was predeceased by her parents as well as her brothers and sisters. She is survived by her husband of 56 years as well as many nieces and nephews and friends near and far who will miss her dearly. A grave side service will be held on May 10, 2025 at the West Bowdoin Cemetery, 50 West Rd, West Bowdoin at 1pm.
