Biography:
Lewiston – David J. Lebel, age 57, of Lewiston, Maine, unexpectedly passed away on August 20, 2024.
David was born on October 23, 1966, in Lewiston, Maine, the son of the late Rita (Ouellette) Neville, her husband Neil Neville, and father Patrick Lebel his late wife Colleen (Collins) Lebel. He was one of three siblings.
David graduated from Lewiston High School. He worked at Yvon’s Car Wash. He then took a job as a dishwasher at Edwards Restaurant, where he discovered his passion for cooking and worked his way up to become a cook for over 17 years. In partnership with his wife, Kathy, he opened Schemengees Bar and Grill in 1998, and open Station Grille restaurant in 2020 where they worked together for approximately 25 years. After the tragic shooting incident on October 25, 2023, which forced them to close Schemengees.
David married the love of his life, Kathy, on June 20, 1991. After facing challenges with starting a family, their pride and joy, Tyler, was born in July 2007. David was an exceptional father and husband, devoted to his wife and son, and cherished every moment spent watching Tyler grow into a young man.
In his younger days, David loved hockey, and playing goalie. He also enjoyed fishing and had a competitive spirit, especially when playing pool. Known for his remarkable bank shots, he delighted his friends and fellow players with his unique skills.
David was predeceased by his mother, Rita (Ouellette) Neville. He is survived by his beloved wife, Kathy Lebel, of 32 years; his son, Tyler Lebel; his older brother, Tim Lebel, and his wife, Amada, along with their two children, their son Tim and daughter Sarah; his brother, Kevin Lebel; and numerous beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visiting hours will be held at East Auburn Baptist Church, 560 Park Ave., Auburn, Me 04210 on September 14, 2024, from 11 AM to 1 PM, with a service to follow.
