Biography:
Lewiston- Maurice LaBrie, 86, Passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Saturday, September 9, at Marshwood Center after a short illness. He was born in Lewiston on April 30, 1931 to Lucien and Jeanne (Dubois) LaBrie.
He attended St. Peter's school in Lewiston. He worked in his father's business, National Candy and Tobacco in Lewiston, until he opened Jet Cleaners Dry Cleaning and Laundromat on Lisbon Street in 1965, and Highlander Laundromat on Main Street. Maurice was an active member of The Knights of Columbus, and Holy Family Church. Maurice was an avid collector of antique clocks, vending machines, and vintage metal toy automobiles.
He was predeceased by both of his parents, as well as his sister Georgette (LaBrie) Marcoux and Robert LaBrie.
He is survived by his wife Dorothea (Gove) LaBrie, just having been married 69 years on September 5, and his five children; Thomas and his wife Jane of Greene, Michael and his wife Linda of Malden, Ma., Linda and her husband Andre of Sabattus, Denis and his partner Suzi Perret of Ventura, CA., and David and his wife Lori of Mansfield, MA. Six grandchildren; Christie, Dorothea, Brennen, Bodie, Jessica and Julia, and two great-grandchildren; Caleb, and JT LaBrie of Honolulu, Hawaii.
