Date of Birth: December 13, 1933

Biography:

Joan Lorraine Kinner of Poland, Maine passed away peacefully on the May New Moon, May 7, 2024, at the age of 90. She was born in Lewiston, Maine on December 13, 1933. She earned her master’s in education from University of Maine at Gorham. Joan was known as Ms. Kinner to over three generations of third graders at Fairview Elementary. She was a passionate teacher and put great love into her classroom learning displays, boards and exercises, including dinosaurs, geography, Maine history, and complete models of Indian villages for various American tribes. She was an active member of the educational community and mentor to numerous assistants and new teachers. She was also a devoted poodle trainer and won multiple blue-ribbons and awards in obedience and agility across America and Canada with her beloved standard poodles Maggie Mae, Grace, Ramona, and Dulcie. Joan also partnered with her father and, with the help and involvement of the whole family, built a lakeside cottage that is still enjoyed and cherished by all who have visited.

Joan was pre-deceased by her parents, William and Gertrude Kinner; her siblings Barbara Clune, Walter and William Kinner; her niece Marilyn Sherman; and great-nephew Jeremy Furlong. She is survived by five nieces and their families: Jennifer, Suzanne, Anita, Kathy and Carol. She will be deeply missed, and lovingly remembered with a smile and warm heart.
