AUGUSTA -- Dawn Raelyn Hughes, 40 years old, of Augusta, died Nov. 9, 2010, at the Androscoggin Home-Care Hospice in Auburn, Maine.

Dawn was born Jan. 13, 1970, to Susan Close and Jim Hughes in Orange County, Calif.

She was predeceased by her beloved mother, Susan Close, in March 1990.

Dawn is survived by her daughter, Alexandra Hughes, 21 years old; her son, Daniel Villarreal, 26 years old; her father; and her two older sisters, Deanna Hughes, 48 years old, and Dayna Watkins, 44 years old.

"Did you ever know that you're my hero, and everything I would like to be? I can fly higher than an eagle, for you are the wind beneath my wings. It might have appeared to go unnoticed, but I've got it all here in my heart. I want you to know that I know the truth, of course I know it. I would be nothing without you."
