Gerald Linwood Hobart

Date of Death: October 3, 2021

Date of Birth: December 26, 1931

Biography:

Gerald "Gerry" Linwood Hobart, 89, died Sunday, October 3, 2021, in his home in Pittsfield attended by his wife of seven years, Edith (Nason Dickinson) Hobart.
Born on December 26, 1931, in Auburn to parents George and Louise, Gerry grew up with his six siblings on their family farm where he fostered a love for his cows and horses. Gerry graduated from Brunswick High School on June 7, 1950.
Gerry's legacy is the people he loved, including his community and family.
Gerry enlisted in the Army on October 28, 1952, and was honorably discharged on October 12, 1954. He was involved locally, volunteering as a fireman in both Topsham and Lisbon, serving on the Lisbon Chamber of Commerce, and running the Moxie Parade.
For decades, Gerry was also the local "boiler man," working with Hines Oil and Morse Brothers before starting his own business, which he later shared with his son. He visited many homes, swapping stories and impacting lives all the while.
Gerry's first love, however, was his family. On May 29, 1955, Gerry married his sweetheart, Faye (Miller) Hobart. Gerry and Faye were fixtures in their community, sharing their love wherever they could. They had five children who Gerry adored unconditionally.
After 57 years of marriage, Faye passed away, and Gerry is now survived by his second wife, Edith, who he married on September 17, 2014. The two shared much happiness right until the end.
Gerry is survived by his children and their spouses, who he loved as his own, David and Ginger, Holly (Wayne's widow), Gerilyn and Troy, and Greggory and Karen. He is also survived by his sister, Carolyn, eight grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren who brought him immeasurable joy in the last weeks of his life.
Gerry is now rejoicing eternally with his Savior and those who went before him: his parents, his wife, Faye, his sons, Scott and Wayne, and his brothers and sister, Raymond, William, Philip, Norman, and Pauline.
A celebration of life will be held on October 9, 2021, 1:30pm, at Lisbon Falls Baptist Church in Lisbon Falls.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Honor Flight Maine, which provided Gerry with an incredible experience on his trip in October of 2018. Checks can be written to Honor Flight Maine and mailed to Honor Flight Maine, P.O. Box 1770, Portland, Maine, 04104-1770. You can also donate online at honorflightmaine.org/donations.
