Biography:

Only the most fortunate among us shared life with such a man.

James Gordon Hinkley, 53, of Sabattus was called home to heaven on Monday March 27 with his loving family by his side after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born April 1, 1963. He was the son of Thurl and Barbara (Reynolds) Hinkley. He attended Sabattus schools.  On June 20, 1981 he married his soul mate Vicki Dyer. He was a self-employed Mason contractor for over 20 years. He was extremely proud of his craftsmanship which can be seen throughout the community and surrounding areas. During his career he was proud to have worked for many local contractors with whom he built lasting relationships.  At the time of his passing he was employed with Dube Excavation of Sabattus to whom the family will be eternally grateful for their continued outpouring of kindness and support. He received the Maine Chief’s Of Police Association “Act Of Bravery By A Citizen” award in 1999 for his heroic efforts. He was a 25 year Master Mason with the Webster Lodge #164 in Wales. His love of the outdoors and fishing and hunting with his friends came second only to his love for his family. JIM LOVED LIFE AND HE LIVED IT! Laughter could be heard where ever he went. He was blessed to be loved by many and will be missed more than words can express. He was predeceased by his Father, Grandparents and his special little angel and daughter  Natasha Lynn Hinkley who went on to heaven ahead of him on January 12, 2016 to help prepare a place for her Daddy. He is survived by his loving wife Vicki, mother Barbara Matson, step mother  Loretta Hinkley, sisters Gail Hinkley, Lucinda Hinkley and Kaylinda Libbey and her husband Peter, brothers Leon Hinkley and his companion Ann French, David Hinkley and his wife Marie, Richard Tanguay, Paul Tanguay and his wife Michelle and Robert Tanguay, mother in law Linda Cunningham, father in law Ivan Cunningham and his companion Clydia, sister in law Raelynn Cunningham and her companion George Brown, many Nieces, Nephews, Aunts, Uncles and a group of loyal and loving friends that would make any man proud!
