Paul L. Groleau

Date of Death: February 24, 2025

Date of Birth: December 30, 1951

Biography:

Paul Groleau, 73, of Greene, Maine passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones.

Paul was born in Lewiston, Maine on December 30, 1951, the son of Olivette (Boulette) Groleau and Laureat Groleau and step-son to Deseria "Blackie" Lefebrve Groleau.

Paul spent his early years being a typical boy with his brother Stanley, neighboring friends, and many cousins. Most notable, was when they were caught doing donuts in his dad's new Chevelle. Events like this led to his love of cars and horsepower.

He attended local schools and graduated with the class of 1970 at Lewiston High School.

Following high school, Paul was employed by many local businesses.

During his later years, Paul worked for Wales Central School for 20 years as head of maintenance for the school. He loved connecting with students about his knowledge and passion for cars and because of this, students respected and looked up to him.

Most recently, Paul was employed by Central Maine Community College for 18 years. While there, he took on the role as custodian and particularly loved his time in the automotive department, continuing that love of on going "car talk" enthusiasm with his colleagues. He had a vast knowledge of anything to do with janitorial or maintenance and is very methodical with how things were taken care of. This was his outlook with everything he touched on this Earth.

Paul, an intelligent man, would spend countless hours researching the best of the best for all aspects of his life. Because of this, Paul was the go to guy for knowledge about almost anything.

Following the Groleau tradition, Paul was very passionate about being his true self, ensuing the path of "his way or the highway"; a true Groleau outlook on life. He remained strong willed, brave, stubborn, passionate, and very loyal to the truth until the day he was called home.

For instance, Paul knew how to get HIS deal on ANY car, EVERY time, including all 125+ vehicles he's ever owned. Every single car was a diamond in the rough, creating a narrative to his life. He treated every one of his cars like they were a human being, with generosity, gentleness (aka no finger prints), and of course, a need for speed. He took pride in owning the top of the line car for each purchase. Never leaving it stock. His final purchase was a bright red 2015 Corvette Sting Ray Z51 which is staying in the family.

Besides vehicles, Paul also had a love for the outdoors with his life partner of 41 years, Ken. They enjoyed taking the secluded scenic routes where they can land on a beach with a chair somewhere, particularly Popham and Bailey's Island. While home, they loved watching the coming and going of the different birds throughout the seasons, having lots of various bird feeders on the property. Their home was filled with eclectic taste, symbolism, and the newest eye-catching gadgets that added a meaningful comfort. Paul is an animal lover, owning 10 dogs in the past 42 years, most being rescue dogs. Their current dogs, Gunner and Freddy, were with Paul to the end.

Paul and Ken were inseparable or "two peas in a pod" as Ken would say, whether they were doing yard work, going to appointments together, or breakfast at Denny's, you wouldn't find them without the other.

He always looked forward to holidays with his family, especially his niece and nephew and their families. He loved teasing the great nieces and nephews and rough housing with them.

Paul was predeceased by his baby brother Peter Groleau, older brother Stanley Groleau, mother Olivette Boulette Groleau, father Larry Groleau, step-mother Deseria "Blackie" Lefebvre Groleau, aunt Janet Saltis, uncle Stan Saltis, and many cousins and friends.

He is survived by his life partner of 41 years, Ken Floyd, Ken's mother Sandra May Floyd, two brothers Kendall and Buddy Floyd, and a sister Tammy Floyd, his nephew Ahren Groleau, his wife Karen Groleau and sons Kaiden and Kolton Groleau, his niece Alyssa Groleau Skilling, her husband Carl Skilling and daughters Cora and Alivia Skilling, his step-sister Arlene Brunson of Arizona, Sandra Groleau (mother of Ahren and Alyssa), Mary Dugans (sister in law) and many cousins and extended family.
