Date of Birth: July 17, 1926

TOPSHAM - There are really no words that can express how much Dr. Sanford 'Sandy' Goldstone has contributed to this world- not only to his family, but to his profession, as well. He died peacefully at home in Topsham, Maine, on September 3, 2015 at the age of 89.

A Jewish kid from the Bronx, Sandy broke the mold, attending Duke University pursuing his PhD in Psychology, graduating in 1955. From there he moved, with his family, to Houston, Texas where he became a pioneer in his profession, advancing research at Baylor University as the Chief Psychologist. His research continued at New York Hospital Cornell Medical Center, Westchester Division. His love for education and the enhancement of the human mind continued as the Director of Clinical Training, Department of Psychology at the University of Maine, Orono. He also encouraged his wife, Lois, to pursue her undeniable talent in art. Lois Adams Goldstone went on to become a well-known Maine Landscape Artist. She predeceased him in 2010.

Sandy retired to Boothbay with Lois, the love of his life. Lois continued her flourishing career in art, and Sandy found his calling in life- becoming Lois's greatest supporter. Together they enjoyed a simple life, tending to their Boothbay home.

They moved to Topsham in 2007, where Sandy & Lois made cherished friends. Sandy enjoyed entertaining his friends & family, weaving good stories, & expressing his bold & unique perspectives on life. He lived life on his own terms.

Sandy will be missed by all of his surviving children- Susan, Arthur, Nancy, Lissa, Peter, Tony, & Jane; his 11 grandchildren; & 6 great grandchildren. His son, John predeceased him in 1978.

Sandy made the world a better place.
