Biography:

ELEANOR DREW GARNETT   Eleanor Drew Garnett,97,formerly of Arundel,passed
away June 14, at the Casco Inn Residential Care
Facility,after 3 years of declining health.
   Eleanor was born in Madbury,NH the eldest child
of Herbert and Lavena Sewall Drew. The family moved
to North Kennebunkport in 1932,where Eleanor worked
in the family candy business-Pine Cottage Chocolates.
   She was educated in the  local schools,
graduating from Kennebunk High class of 1944.She
continued to attend her annual Class Reunions
well into her eighties.
   Eleanor met and married Walter L Garnett in 1946
they lived in Arundel most of their married livesand
where
they built their home,and raised their son Ray.
   Eleanor worked in local shoe shops as a floorgirl.
She and her husband enjoyed the outdoors,gardening,
snowmobiling and in their later years traveling in
their RV.
   Eleanor was a people person and enjoyed a good conversation.
   She was an active KHS Alumni as well as a member of the
Ladies Investment Group.She loved cardinals and flowers,
particularly her beautifully manicured perennial gardens.
   Eleanor could identify the flowers by name as well
as the care each required. She enjoyed the stock market
always impressing upon her family her and friends with
the best way to make a profit.  
   Eleanor loved her family and enjoyed family gatherings
She will be remembered by all for her delicious hand chopped
coleslaw.She was very proud of her grandchildren and great
grandchildren.She was very happy her grandson was able to
purchase her home when she could no longer live alone.
  She was predeceased by her husband of 42 year.Walter
her brothers Donald and Maurice,life long friends Myrt
Cousens and Kay Welch.She is survived by her son Ray{Heather}
grandson Dean{Karen}grandaughters Jessica{Sven},Marissa{James}
7 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
  Eleanor was a people person and enjoyed a good conversation.
Following Eleanors wishes a celebration of life will be held
at a later date.
   The family wishes to express their appreciation to the Casco
Inn and Beacon Hospice for the kindness and compassion shown Eleanor.
