Karlene Gaulding Duval

Date of Death: December 18, 2024

Date of Birth: April 11, 1947

Biography:

Karlene (Gaulding) Duval, age 77, passed away on December 18, 2024 after a long illness with her 3 children by her side.

Karlene was born on April 11, 1947, in Dallas, Texas, the daughter of Karl & Gladys Gaulding.  She was raised in Oceanside, California and was an avid golfer at her parents golf course in her younger years, and competed successfully in many tournaments throughout Southern California.  She loved spending time at the ocean with her friends.

Karlene moved to Maine in her early 20's to raise her children, giving them a safe, stable and loving home as a single parent.  Karlene went to college at the University of Maine at Augusta while raising her children, receiving her bachelor's degree in social work.

Karlene worked at the Career Center in Lewiston for 35 years retraining displaced workers, helping hundreds of people better their lives with new careers.  She took great pride in the work she did helping others.  Karlene enjoyed watching sports, reading, doing arts & crafts, journaling, making weekend trips to Walmart, shopping on Amazon, but what she loved the most was spending time with her children and grandchildren, who were the lights of her life and who she adored and who adored her.  Karlene was a very strong woman, always there to help anyone in need, being a compassionate person who loved being there for her family and friends.  Karlene was the "rock" of the family, always being there to lend a hand and give great advice or to wipe away tears when needed, giving the best hugs ever.

She was predeceased by her parents and a grandson Branden Rosaire Binette.

She is survived by her 3 children, Dina L. Duval and her partner Jeff Aldrich of Lebanon, daughter Cher Binette Kennedy and husband James of Lewiston, and a son Bryan Duval and wife Jessica of Virginia.  She had 6 grandchildren who she loved with all her heart and who deeply loved her, Jacob, Caden, Hunter, Logan, Danielle and Noah.  She also adored her great granddaughter, June.  She was also very close to her sister-in-law Diane (Duval) Fontaine, who she was very close to and loved deeply.

Karlene. aka "Grammy" will be deeply and greatly missed by all those who loved her and she always loved back with her whole heart.  She was a bright light that will never go out.

A celebration of life will take place in the spring at the Vineyard Church in Lewiston.  We will announce the date via Facebook, for those who would like to join the family celebrating her life.
