Biography:
Edward S. Durgin, 88, of Mechanic Falls, died on November 17, 2024 at his home after a long illness. He was born in Bridgton, Maine on February 19, 1936, a son of the late Neal & Evelyn M. (Bilodeau) Durgin.
He graduated from Bridgton High and loved playing on the baseball team. He was married to the late Armande (Beaulieu) for 59 years. They lived in Connecticut for a long time and then many years in No. Bridgton.
He worked in several machine shops and had his own business. He drove tractor trailer and a school bus for a time, owned Pondicherry Lanes Bowling Alley in Bridgton, and worked with his son doing insulating and roofing. He built 2 of his homes in No. Bridgton.
Ed loved country music and played guitar and sang for the residents at Casco Inn. He enjoyed his last days at The Silver Spur dancing and listening to bands, especially Peter Allen & DeeDee.
He is survived by his wife Dianne (Lane), and 2 sons, Tim of Norway, and John in Ct.. He was predeceased by a son Kenneth, one sister Lorna Mowatt and 2 brothers, Neal Jr., and Clifford.
Ed was a member of the Church of Christ in So. Paris, and faithfully attended until the onset of illness.
There will be no service at his request, and he will be interned at Forest Hills Cemetery in Bridgton. Arrangements made by Funeral Alternatives.
