Biography:

WEST BATH – Richard “Dick” A. Durgan, 83, of W. Bath passed away on January 24, 2019. He was born May 11, 1935 in Bath, ME, the son of Ira and Verna (Humphrey) Durgan.

Dick graduated from Morse High School and enlisted in the Navy shortly after. He was employed by BIW, Coastal Transportation, and Georgetown School.

He was an avid outdoorsman; he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and boating. He had many fond memories of times spent in Baypoint, Maine.

Dick was predeceased by three brothers, Robert, Ira, and Roy; one sister, Dot Seekins; and two wives, Mildred and Cheryl.

He is survived by his brother, Raymond Durgan and wife Jacqueline of Mt. Vernon; his stepson, Jon Whittaker of S. Portland; his stepdaughters, Patricia Ring of W. Bath, and Kathy Dauphin of Whitefield; his grandson, Herbert Ring of W. Bath who care for him for many years; his granddaughter, Jessica Waterman of Bath; and many nieces, nephews, and great grandchildren.

The family would like to extend a special Thank You to the Home Care Staff from VA Hospice, and Carol Baxley, his caregiver.

A private burial will take place in the spring at the Maine Veterans Cemetery in Augusta.
