Lucien Lou Dupere

Date of Death: May 8, 2023

Date of Birth: February 23, 1940

Biography:

Lewiston-With a heavy heart the family of Lucien "Lou" Dupere announce his passing at the age of 83 after courageously battling esophagael cancer. His responce to unwelcome news was always"It's Part of the Deal".

Lou went to be with the Lord on Monday May 8th and to be reunited with his loving wife Gertrude "Gigi" Dupere. Lou was born on 2-23-40, the son of Andrew and Florence Dupere.

Lou will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his daughters Lisa Bisson and husband Ron of Auburn; Lorraine Bowen and hunband Don of Lewiston; his grandchildren Jessica Bowen, Morgan Nagy, Noah Bisson and Caleb Bisson; his great grandchildren; Rome Steede-Bowen and Sophie Nagy. Lou will be missed and remember by a breadth of neighbors, co-workers and friends.

Lou was a member of Prince of Peace Parish and married his devoted wife in 1964 at Sacred Heart Church. Lou was a proud navy Veteran serving from 1959 through 1965.

He worked until his passing, because it was his passion and his phone never stopped ringing. Chances are you've walked on concrete sidewalks, mall floors or driven pass businesses and homes that were done by Lou's Concrete. He enjoyed working many years with his friend Gabe, later his brother Gil then with his two son in laws and on a couple occasions his grandson Noah. He was the best at his craft and a mentor to many in the field.

Lou's number one priority was his family. He was a devoted husband, father and pepere. Always the first to call on birthdays, mothers day, fathers day, or to ask how a medical appointment went and he ended every call with "I love you". He never missed a soccer or basketball game, cheering, track-n-field, or Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competition, Crohn's walk, tennis match, Unified basketball, Special Olympics bowling, track-n-field or swimming event. A chance to go snowmobiling, boating or camping with his family, taking a trip to the casino or track with a friend. He was there for us and would offer to help before being asked. If you got the rare opportunity to help him, you were unable to leave without a token of his appreciation.

Lou and Gigi traveled around the World, going to Asia, Africa, Europe, Australia, S.America, Canada, and most states in N.America. They landed in the middle of the African jungle by air ballon, zip lined through the rainforest in Costa Rica, walked on the Great Wall of China, visited the Mediterranean Sea while in Greece, went through the Panama Canal, took many cruises with friends and went skydiving with their granddaughters and daughter Lorraine. Lou went hunting with his brother Gil and fishing with his daughter Lisa in Alaska.

Lou was predeceased by his wife Gigi, his parents Andrew and Florence Dupere, his brothers Gilbert and Normand Dupere. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 20 at 10:00 a.m. At Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 131 High St. Sabattus. A committal service will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. At Maine Veteran's Cemetery, Mt. Vernon Road, Augusta.
