Biography:

New Gloucester – Judith A. Drummond of New Gloucester went home to be with her Lord and Savior in St. Mary's Hospital's Intensive Care Unit early Sunday morning February 10, 2019. She was born in Lewiston on June 25, 1945, a daughter of Daniel A. Barrell and Clarice Curtis Barrell.


Judy attended Auburn Schools and graduated from Edward Little High School and she went on to graduate from Gorham State College in 1967. She began her teaching career at Webster Jr. High School in Auburn and retired from Lewiston Middle School in 2009.


Judy was an active member of Court St. Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, served on the Board of Christian Education, lead bible studies and enjoyed the blessings of her church family. She and her loving husband Jim were married at Court Street Baptist in 1967. The have enjoyed almost 52 wonderful years of marriage together. Many of those years were spent doing numerous outdoor adventures and activities together both at home and at their camp with family and friends. They have been a team as they relied on the Lord as Judy faced significant health challenges including a liver transplant at Lahey Health in Burlington, MA. She authored a book titled “A Gift from Julie, Blessings from God” about her transplant experience. The gift of life was give by her niece Julie Littlefield as live donor. She has been an inspiration and encouraging example in faith and love to family, friends and her students. Her positive attitude has been exemplary.


Judy is survived by her husband Jim, son Mike and grandson Isaac, daughter Katie and her husband Gary and grandsons Zackary and Harrison. Our family has been blessed by Judy's love of life. Judy was very proud of each of her grandsons, they gave her great love and joy. She loved them with her whole heart and lifted them with a prayer. She is survived by her sisters Marcia King, Sally Littlefield and nieces Julie Littlefield and Chris O'Day, Janet Littlefield and her husband Bill Flynn. Sister in law Marge and brother in law Dick Brouillette and their son Rick and daughters Kim and Karen and their families.

The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of the Department of Transplantation at Lahey Hospital, the emergency care doctors and staff, Doctor Bagley and all the wonderful nurses in the Intensive Care Unit at St. Mary's Hospital. Your compassion and care was more appreciated than you could know.


A celebration of Life will be held at Court Street Baptist Church, 129 Court St. Auburn, Me on Thursday February 14 at 1:30 Pm with a reception to follow. In lieu of Flowers memorial donations may be made to Court St. Baptist Church 129 Court St. Auburn ME. Arrangements are under the care of Funeral Alternatives, 25 Tampa St. Lewiston, Me.
