Biography:

Augusta-Earlene Hall Drapeau, 79, passed away on June 21, 2022 at home with her loving family by her side after a long illness.

Beloved wife of 55 years to David Drapeau. Born March 3, 1943 to Warren “Bud” Hall and Rita Ouellette Hall. Earlene attended Cony High School graduating in 1961. Earlene attended Central Beauty School, graduating in 1963 as a licensed cosmetologist. She owned and operated “Earlene’s Beauty Shop” in Augusta for 40 years. She also served as a substitute kitchen staff member at Hodgkins Jr High School.

Earlene was an active member of the St. Andrew’s Church Women’s Club in Augusta; she participated in Sunday afternoon craft sessions with the group, helped with church events such as the Christmas Fair, and the annual Sunday Funday and was a weekly collections counter.

Earlene enjoyed day trips to the coast, picnics with her beloved husband, spending time with friends & family, going to the beach, playing the slots and bingo locally and at Foxwoods. She had fun shopping and her favorites were TJ Maxx, Christopher & Banks, and Target.  She loved tending to her flower gardens and going out to dinner on Saturday evenings with friends.

Our family home on Murray Street in Augusta was the neighborhood hang-out and she would often make brownies & cookies for all the neighborhood kids.

Earlene was predeceased by her parents, Warren and Rita Ouellette Hall; Sisters: Norma Hall Arnold; and Lois Hall Morrissey.

Earlene is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years, David Drapeau. They were high school sweethearts; they cherished and were devoted to each other.  Daughters: Laurie Drapeau Carpenter (Scott); Brenda Beeckel (Darren); & Susan Dunn (Tim). Grandchildren: Lindsey; Bradley; Megan; Austin; Hannah; Rebekah; and Ainsley and many beloved nieces & nephews and treasured longtime friends. 

A memorial service to celebrate Earlene’s life will be held at Maine Veterans Cemetery, Civic Center Drive, at the committal shelter on Wednesday, July 6th at 9am.
