Maryann Demotta

Biography:

Maryann DeMotta passed away May 27, 2024, at the age of 75. She was known for her exceptional kindness, her sharp sense of humor and her love of food and family. She was a wonderful cook and made many holiday feasts over the years. Mary Ann enjoyed puzzles and was a formidable opponent in card games. In her youth she loved dancing and music. Her sisters fondly remember her teaching them how to dance to rock n roll in the 1960s.

All who were lucky enough to know her felt deeply cared for and loved. Mary Ann was an amazing mother who dedicated her life to caring for and supporting her children in whatever paths they chose to pursue.

Mary Ann leaves behind four adult children, David, Jennifer, Joseph and Antoinette, her granddaughter Aika, and her ex husband David, who remained a close friend until the end of her life. She had a special fondness for her children’s partners, Rachel, Enon and Yoshiko. Mary Ann was the oldest daughter of 8 children, and leaves behind seven siblings Thomas, Patricia, Karen, Jane, John, Michael, and Teresa, and many beloved nieces and nephews including Stacy, Stephanie and Mary Beth, who lived nearby and visited her often. She will be dearly and deeply missed.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday June 15, at 4 p.m., at Funeral Alternatives located at 25 Tampa Street in Lewiston.

In lieu of flowers, Mary Ann’s family is requesting Remembrance donations be made to The Greater Androscoggin Humane Society to celebrate her love of cats.
