Louise A. Deeds
Date of Death: June 12, 2024
Date of Birth: April 13, 1936
Biography:
Louise Deeds, 88, passed away on June 12, 2024 at Schooner Memory Care in Auburn, Maine.
"Take me to heaven in a Tootsie Roll"—she finally got her sincere wish.
Louise was born and raised in Reading, Pennsylvania. She was the seventh child of Paul and
Theresa (nee Gieringer) Schower. She had fond memories of growing up in the city, of climbing
to the Pagoda, and of her alma mater Central Catholic High School, located in the mansion of
candy manufacturer William Luden. She met her husband Donald Deeds at a social club in
Reading. They were married on August 15, 1958.
Louise was always very proud of her early work as an x-ray technician. She and Donald raised
their family in Newtown, Pennsylvania. She loved family trips to Ocean City, New Jersey, and
had lots of fun going to the casinos in Atlantic City.
Some memories from her children: St Andrew’s Church and how she started the preschool.
Her Catholic faith was important to her. She was proud of her stock investments and her
antiques collection. She loved swimming from an early age. There were special times
bowling and playing games (e.g., pinochle); especially with her sister Ginny. She also was a
girl scout and cub scout leader.
She was predeceased by her husband, her parents, and her siblings: Bert Schwartz, Paul
Schower, Cass Shipe, Ginny Davis, Gerard Schower, Kenny Schower and Tommy Schower; her
sisters-in-law: Catherine Lincoln and Dorothy Fritz; as well as her grandson Alden Hoke.
She is survived by her five children Holly Sysko (David) of Lewiston, Maine; Joy Donohoe of
Bellingham, Massachusetts; Amy Hoke of Jamison, Pennsylvania; Brett Deeds (Shanyn) of
Potomac Falls, Virginia; Kip Deeds (Juka) of Jaroszowa Wola, Poland. She is also survived by her
grandchildren Graham Sysko (Marilyn), Nina Rubin (Matt), Jesse Donohoe, Ryan Donohoe, Chad
Hoke (Luke), Kara Hoke, Luke Deeds, Sam Deeds and Szymon Deeds. She is fondly remembered
by many nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff of Schooner Memory Care and caregivers from
Andwell Health Partners (hospice provider). They all cared deeply for Mom.
There will be a service in Newtown that will be announced at a future date. Memorial
donations can be made to:
