Biography:

WINTHROP -- Mary Virginia Crane, 79, of Winthrop, passed away peacefully April 14, 2011, at Gray Birch in Augusta. She was born in Augusta on April 8, 1932, the daughter of Ralph and Marion Marston. She attended schools in the Augusta area.

She was married to Lester Crane for 50 years.

She worked for Thams Tube Co. in Rhode Island and Sheraton Hotels in Connecticut. When she moved back to Maine, she worked for Uplift for many years. She also volunteered for Meals on Wheels for a number of years.

She attended Grace Baptist Church in Chelsea.

Mary was caring, and enjoyed helping people. She loved her animals, and working in her garden.

Mary is survived by her husband, Lester E. Crane, of Gray Birch; stepdaughter Catherine Townsend and husband Christopher of Chelsea; daughter Judy Crawford of Virginia; son David Van-Sickel of Texas; two stepgrandchildren; six grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Per Mary's request, there will be no service at this time.
