Gerard F. (Jerry) Coughlin

Biography:

LEWISTON--Gerard F. (Jerry) Coughlin, 87, who lately lived in Lewiston, with his daughter, Christina Geary and her husband, John, passed peacefully Monday, Feb. 14, of complications from Lou Gehrig's Disease (ALS) with family members and friends by his side.

Jerry, formerly of South Braintree and Halifax, MA, was born in Boston on Aug. 4, 1923, the only son of John and Nora (Costello) Coughlin.  He was a 1940 graduate of Commerce High School in Boston and a WW II veteran, having proudly served his country overseas in the U.S. Navy.

Jerry was a civil war buff and avid reader, who also enjoyed photography and fishing.  He was also a die-hard Red Sox and Patriots fan.

Predeceased by his parents and 3 sisters, Marion Zinck, Catherine Vierkant and Eileen Carroll, he is survived by his 2 daughters, Christina Geary of Lewiston and Suzanne Meserve of Unity, ME; 3 granddaughters, Michelle Meserve, of Benton, Maine, Catherine Lindblad and her husband, Greg, of Plaistow, NH, and Jacqueline Richard, and her husband, Titus, of Temecula, CA; a great-granddaughter;  4 great-grandsons; and many nephews and nieces.

A memorial service and committal  will be held at the Maine Veterans'

Cemetery (Augusta) later this Spring.

 In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice.
