She was born on April 11th, 1930 in Lisbon Center, the daughter of Howard and Annie (Smith) Goss.

Leona was educated in Lisbon schools and graduated from Lisbon High School. She often reminisced about the one room school houses she attended.

On December 30th, 1950 she married Roland O. Carville, immediately moving out of the state as Roland was stationed at Fort Dix, NJ. Leona’s home would always be in Maine and they returned to Lisbon where they raised their seven children. She was looking forward to their 60th anniversary.

Leona attended the West Bowdoin Baptist Church as a child and became a member a few years ago. She retired as a baker from the Lisbon School Department where many kids fondly knew her as ‘Ma Carville’.

Although she held several jobs throughout her life, her greatest job was raising her children. She loved to knit , crochet, crafts and going to craft fairs, and enjoyed a good game of Scrabble with her son Kenneth whom passed away on May 8th, 2010. She also enjoyed genealogy and always had a “Did you know he was related?” story.  ‘Grammie’ loved rocking babies and was looking forward to rocking her 3 new great-grandchildren due next year.

Leona is survived by her beloved husband Roland; children Maureen, Donna, Trudy, Suanne, Rebecca,  James; brother Roland Goss; many grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; very good friend Mazie Jordan whom she loved as a sister; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; son Kenneth; brothers Raymond and Wesley Goss; 2  grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
